I received two rose bushes, the Masara was well branched and lovely shape with some new growth buds ready to branch out. Unfortunately, Darlington did not look as good and had some die back when reveived. I am hopeful that she survives as I have been looking for Darlington for my collection for some time. Otherwise really pleased with everything I have received so far.
This is a highly sought after popular Japanese shrub rose, not always easy to find bought I’m so glad I was able to find one this year! The rose is beautiful being small to medium in size, the blooms are about 3inches when open, they are a lovely color of purple in its center and cool lavender on its outer petals - creating a ring around the central bloom. It does have a moderate to sometimes strong fragrance which is delightful. The rose is also quite disease resistant and I’ve had little to no issues with it in that sense. My only complaint is that despite how healthy it is it still lacks vigor, it is slow growing and doesn’t establish very quickly, this rose is also quite smaller than the average garden bush or shrub rose being only about 2 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide making it a great candidate for container gardening. I would recommend it just bear in mind it will take sometime to get established if you have the patience for it it’s definitely worth it!
